Behind the Word Mountains
Far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, live the blind texts. They live in isolation in Letterville, on the coast of Semantics, a vast language ocean. A small stream called Duden flows through their village and supplies them with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradise-like land where fried phrases fly into one’s mouth. Not even the all-powerful Punctuation has control over the blind texts – it’s an almost unorthographic life.
One day, however, a small line of blind text, its name was Lorem Ipsum, decided to venture out into the far world of Grammar. The Big Oxmox advised it not to do so, because it was teeming with bad commas, wild question marks, and devious Semikoli, but the little blind text wasn’t deterred. It grabbed its seven capital letters, shoved its initial into its belt, and set off.
When it had crested the first hills of the Italic Mountains, it cast one last glance back at the skyline of its hometown, Bookstabhausen, the headline of Alphabet Village, and the subline of its own street, Zeilengasse. A rhetorical question ran wistfully down its cheek, then it continued on its way. On the way, it met a copywriter. The copywriter warned the Little Blind Text that where it came from, it would have been rewritten countless times and all that was left of its origin was the word “and,” and the Little Blind Text should turn around and return to its own, safe country. But no amount of coaxing could convince it, and so it didn’t take long before a few insidious copywriters ambushed it, made it drunk with Longe and Parole, and then dragged it into their agency, where they abused it again and again for their projects. And if it wasn’t rewritten, they were still using it. Far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, live the blind texts.
